Frequently Asked Questions

About our products

What does gauge mean in stainless steel cookware?
Explain gauge = thickness. Lower number = thicker steel. 14G is the thickest (kadais, topes, taslas — heavy-duty commercial use). 18G is standard for handis (good balance of weight and durability). 22G is mid-weight. 26G is lighter, suitable for occasional home use. Anupam manufactures across all these gauges depending on the product category.
What is the difference between IB Range and regular cookware?
IB = Induction Bottom. A magnetic stainless steel disc is welded to the base so the cookware works on induction cooktops as well as gas and electric. Regular stainless steel is not magnetic and won't heat on induction. The IB range covers handis, kadais, idly pots and more.
What is triply stainless steel cookware?
Triply = three bonded layers: food-grade stainless steel (inner) + pure aluminium core + stainless steel (outer). The aluminium core distributes heat evenly across the base and walls. Result: no hot spots, faster cooking, less fuel. Anupam's Triply range is the Cook & Serve line — suitable for both cooking and serving at the table.
What makes Anupam idly pots different?
Anupam is one of the few manufacturers with a dedicated South Indian steam cookware line. Products include standard idly pots, tatte idly makers (5-plate configurations), multi-purpose steamers, and induction-bottom (IB) versions of all the above. Available with different plate combinations: tatte idly plate, magic idly plate, and momos plate configurations.
What categories of cookware does Anupam manufacture?
9 categories — Handis, Kadais, Topes, Taslas & Pans, Tiffin & Food Carriers, Idly & Steam Cookware, IB (Induction Bottom) Range, Triply Cookware, and Serverware. Total 130+ products. Two facilities: Chennai (South Indian specialty + tiffin range) and Ahmedabad (handis, kadais, serverware).

Care & usage

How do I clean and maintain stainless steel cookware?
Wash with mild soap and warm water. For stubborn stains, use a paste of baking soda and water — avoid steel wool which scratches the surface. Dry immediately after washing to prevent water spots. Stainless steel is dishwasher-safe but hand washing extends lifespan. Do not store acidic foods in stainless steel for long periods.
Why does my stainless steel cookware discolour or develop rainbow marks?
Rainbow discolouration (heat tint) is normal and harmless — caused by high heat oxidising the chromium in the steel. It does not affect food safety or performance. To remove it, rub with a cloth dampened in white vinegar or use a stainless steel cleaner.
Is Anupam cookware safe for food use?
All Anupam products use food-grade stainless steel — non-reactive, non-toxic, and does not leach metals into food under normal cooking conditions. Stainless steel is widely considered one of the safest materials for cookware. It does not require seasoning, does not rust under normal use, and is hygienic.
